"there is a tremendous amount of information out there on food, nutrition and exercise and it’s no wonder that people are confused."
I am a born and bred New Yorker who took a quick 9-year detour on the West Coast. Being back in NYC has made me very happy. I LOVE this city and all it has to offer. After having a seasoned career in marketing, I started asking myself how could I marry my passions and my work together. You see while I had always had a dedicated fitness program, working out consistently since college, and ate a pretty healthy diet (thank you Mom for being the best example a daughter could ask for!), I gained about 25 pounds for no particular reason. I tried everything to get it off eventually reading the China Study by T. Colin Campbell, who suggests a vegan lifestyle is the best way to avoid cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and weight gain. I figured I had tried everything else so why not? So I went vegan for a little; I have since incorporated fish and the occasional dairy back into my diet; however the weight has never come back. What I realized from this experience is there is a tremendous amount of information out there on food, nutrition and exercise and it’s no wonder that people are confused. Since this experience, for years I have read nutrition books, researched recipes, and wellness and love all of it. There is nothing that gets me more excited than finding a new recipe that satisfies that craving while nourishing your body, testing out a new superfood or trying a new exercise class. All that soul searching led me to enrolling in the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). It was here that I became a holistic Health Coach. At IIN I was able to harness my love for leading healthy lifestyle and helping people into one career.
